21:08 - Well done to the Cheetahs. They took their chances out there and won the tactical game. The Bulls will have to vastly improve their skill-set! They simply made to many errors and looked like a team with no plan.

Yes it was atrocious weather conditions, but there were just too many silly errors made. Not what you'd expect from a professional outfit like them. One positive for the Bulls is that they got a bonus point for losing by fewer than seven - a point they probably didn't deserve it has to be said.

The Cheetahs will have to look at their scrums after conceding a lot of possession there. But otherwise, there's a lot to build on for Naka Drotské's charges.

In next weekend's action, the Cheetahs head to Australia where they will tackle the Rebels in Melbourne, while the Bulls host the Lions in Pretoria.

Cheetahs No 8 Phillip van der Walt was tonight's stand-out performer.

21:04 - QUOTES

"If you’re not there 100% you’re going to lose the game. We’re not pleased with our game at all. We made a lot of errors. We have to learn and play our own game," said Bulls captain Flip van der Merwe.

"I’m actually speechless. Very proud of the guys. It lifts the spirits in the camp. Credit to the guys. We kept them under pressure and showed we can play in this weather," said Cheetahs captain Adriaan Strauss.

"When are the Bulls going to become an attacking threat. They're not going to be a threat unless they start attacking," said in-studio SuperSport commentator John Mitchell.

20:56 - But they kick it away! Can you believe it!?

20:54 - Pollard kicks the PENALTY. Cheetahs 15-9 Bulls after 79 minutes.

20:54 - And they'll get that chance now after another penalty at scrum time!

20:53 - Three minutes left and the Bulls have a scrum right outside the Cheetahs 22m area. Best they can hope for now is a bonus point for losing by fewer than seven...

20:51 - The Cheetahs have found effective ways to counter the Bulls maul this evening...

20:50 - Lyrics from a Bon Jovi song "we're half-way there" are chanting in the background. I reckon the Cheetahs are more than half-way there by now! Five minutes left.

20:48 - But the move ends as centre Jan Serfontein knocks it on just outside the Cheetahs 22. Pretty much sums up the Bulls' night. Error after error.

20:47 - Seven minutes left. The Bulls launch a lineout drive just outside the Cheetahs 22... Last chance saloon?

20:43 - Willie le Roux keeping the game in the right side of the field...

20:40 - An ironic cheer from his former home fans as replacement scrumhalf Piet Van Zyl throws a shocking pass into touch... Looks like nothing's working for the Bulls tonight...

20:18 - But he also misses! Three very kickable penalties now missed by the men from Pretoria.

20:17 - Another easy penalty chance for the Bulls from right in front - 30m out and Pollard lines up...

Victor Matfield has just become the most capped South African Super Rugby player with 126 caps.

20:14 - And it comes back to bite them as the Cheetahs steal the ball via Boom Prinsloo. You can't afford not to take easy three points in these conditions...

20:14 - Big call from the Bulls opting not to kick an easy three points.

Handré Pollard on for Louis Fouché and Victor Matfield on for Grant Hattingh.

A night Fouché would like to forget quite frankly...

20:12 - They win a penalty as Goosen and Coenie Oosthuizen are caught off-side.

20:12 - Bulls attacking just outside Cheetahs 22m area.

20:11 - Just as I write, Big Vic is spotted warming up on the touchline...

20:10 - The Bulls lineout has also had a couple of bad malfunctions. Maybe time for Matfield to come on?

20:09 - Another attempt at a drop from Goosen from way out... again he misses badly...

20:08 - Fouché starts the second half. Good news for Bulls is he hasn't kicked it out on the full...

20:02 - What the Cheetahs are also doing well is they're playing the game in the right side of the field. And they've got the better flyhalf...

"A monster-overcook from Fouché," says commentator Matt Pearce.

19:48 - This time the Cheetahs win a penalty at scrum time and Goosen brings relief... Van der Merwe just on for Bulls and gives away a penalty.

But jeepers, it's tough to scrum in these slippery conditions!

19:47 - Cheetahs again under pressure at the lineout and Venter is forced to dot down dead. Five-metre scrum to the Bulls.

"We're only focused on today. We're not looking at history. On the day we need to be better," says Cheetahs captain Adriaan Strauss when asked about their poor record against the Bulls.

18:54 - The Bulls will love this rainy weather though...

18:51 - It's bucketing down with rain at the moment. That could be a reason for the poor attendance, but last week's game against the Lions was played in bright sunshine and empty stands...

18:46 - Not a very big crowd at the Free State Stadium expected. Always a poor crowd in Bloemfontein. There must be something else to do there on a Friday night that I don't know about...

18:45 - Since the Cheetahs joined Super Rugby full-time in 2006, they have never beaten the Bulls. Can they break their duck tonight?

The heavens are open in Bloemfontein. This will suite the Bulls with their more structured kicking game.

18:32 - In case you missed, the Chiefs beat the Crusaders 18-10 in the day's earlier game in Christchurch.

18:30 - The Bulls will miss their skipper Pierre Spies, who was ruled out with an elbow injury. He has been replaced by Jacques Engelbrecht, who moves up from the bench, while Wiaan Liebenberg replaces Engelbrecht on the bench.

"Vleis" is no slouch though and should make his presence felt in Spies's absence.

Springbok lock Flip van der Merwe will take over the captaincy.

18:26 - Welcome to LIVE UPDATES and INTERACTIVE COMMENTARY of tonight's Super Rugby derby in Bloemfontein.

Important game for both teams after losses last week - the Cheetahs stunned 21-20 by the Lions at home and the Bulls going down 31-16 to the Sharks in Durban.

So expect a desperate duel!

But I'm going to go Bulls by 3. They were better than the scoreline suggested in Durban last week and for some reason always get the better of the Cheetahs in Super Rugby.

Welcome to Sport24's LIVE scoring and interactive commentary on today's Super Rugby match between the Cheetahs and Bulls from Bloemfontein!

  • 80'

It's all over in Bloemfontein and the Cheetahs have their first ever win over the Bulls in Super Rugby. It wasn't pretty but the hosts won't care as they hit back from last week's loss to the Lions. The Bulls are now zero from two in the competition.

  • 79'

PENALTY, BULLS, POLLARD! 15-9! A scrum penalty sees the Bulls get within losing bonus-point range. Only seconds left here for the visitors to snatch a win.

  • 77'

The rain is as heavy as it has been all night in Bloem as the Bulls prepare to throw in 45 metres out. It is now or never for the visitors but again Le Roux is the man who clears well up to halfway.

  • 75'

It doesn't look good for the Bulls as Serfontein's pass to Du Plessis 20 metres out is called forward by Berry. Not long now for the hosts to hold out.

  • 73'

The Cheetahs have the Bulls where they want them, in their own half, and with Le Roux soon rising to claim a mark in his 22, valuable time ticks away.

  • 70'

More kicking at the Free State Stadium as the rain continues to fall. It's a case of getting over the finish line for the Cheetahs. Low risk all the way.

  • 67'

Nothing comes of that field position though as kick tennis is the outcome before Piet van Zyl's poor pass goes into touch on halfway. The home crowd cheer that as Van Zyl is a former Cheetahs nine.

  • 64'

Territory will be key now and Frik Kirsten being penalised for collapsing a scrum won't help the Bulls, neither will Basson booting the ball out on the full. Cheetahs line-out 25 metres out here.

  • 61'

PENALTY, CHEETAHS, GOOSEN! 15-6! No mistake this time as the hosts move nine points clear again.

  • 60'

So close from Cheetahs fly-half Goosen as his 60-metre penalty attempt hits the post. He will get another go though as Ross is penalised for offside in the aftermath. Bring back that kicking tee then.

  • 58'

Almost a moment to remember for Cheetahs number eight Phillip van der Walt as he breaks down the blindside before chipping over the top. The Bulls survive though and will put in close to halfway.

  • 55'

So the Bulls are back within one score as Berry calls for a Cheetahs scrum on halfway due to a knock-on. Still no tries in this game remember.

  • 53'

PENALTY, BULLS, POLLARD! 12-6! Yes he can.

  • 52'

Bulls flanker Jacques du Plessis is going off for a concussion test after suffering a head injury so a slight delay here before play gets back under way. The Bulls have a penalty on the Cheetahs ten-metre and Pollard calls for the tee. Can he make this?

  • 50'

Prinsloo's good work is undone however as he slows down the ball at a resulting ruck 35 metres from his own try-line. Up steps Pollard, who misses a relative sitter! Frans Ludeke looks disappointed.

  • 47'

Hattingh and Fouche leave the field, replaced by Victor Matfield and Handre Pollard, as the Bulls send the ball into the corner. But it's a short-lived surge as Prinsloo wins the critical steal.

  • 45'

This is solid defence from the Cheetahs as they refuse to let the Bulls into their own 22, with tackle after tackle flying in. Luckily for the Bulls, Caylib Oosthuizen and Goosen are offside.

  • 43'

Yet another drop-goal attempt from long range from Goosen that falls well short and it backfires too due to some of his forwards being caught offside. Decent field position for the Bulls is the result.

  • 41'

Welcome back. Fouche gets things going again as the Bulls look to turn around this nine-point deficit.

  • 40'

The half ends with a missed penalty attempt from Fouche from halfway after the Cheetahs failed to roll away. Not the greatest 40 minutes of Super Rugby but the weather hasn't helped. Let us hope for an improvement after the break. See you then.

  • 38'

Oh dear, another drop-goal shot from Goosen this time on his left foot fails to get up to crossbar height. The Bulls will drop out once again then.

  • 37'

From the prop to their number ten, the Bulls have just had another shocker as Fouche boots one out on the full by mistake. Strauss will now throw just 30 metres from the visitors line before Goosen misses with an attempted drop-goal. It's all a bit messy.

  • 34'

A change for the Bulls as Greyling hobbles off for Marcel van der Merwe. The latter will now pack down five metres from the Cheetahs line for what is a key moment in the half. And it's a nightmare start for the replacement, who is penalised for his bind.

  • 32'

It's all very loose right now as the Bulls look to strike back from 20 metres out. They will have a scrum platform now too after Prinsloo fumbles off the back of a ruck. They would love a score here.

  • 29'

PENALTY, CHEETAHS, GOOSEN! 12-3! It's all Cheetahs right now as they go through the phases 30 metres from the Bulls line. They were not penetrating a whole lot but a penalty offence soon came against Ross so Goosen called for the tee. Nice strike.

  • 26'

PENALTY, CHEETAHS, GOOSEN! 9-3! The lead is back up to six points after Van der Merwe is penalised for offside. And it gets worse for the Bulls as the restart goes out on the full. Silly, silly errors.

  • 23'

PENALTY, BULLS, FOUCHE! 6-3! That's lazy from the Cheetahs as Francois Venter enters a ruck from the side, allowing Fouche the opportunity to pull it back to a three-point ball game. He does just that.

  • 21'

First Strauss, now Callie Visagie throws poorly as his line-out is called crooked 35 metres out from the Cheetahs line. So, we will have a scrum as the rain continues to fall in Bloemfontein.

  • 19'

And it was a scrappy line-out which the Bulls almost scored off. Luckily for the Cheetahs a spillage over the line led to Strauss getting his hands on it and subsequently kicking clear.

  • 17'

Now it's the turn of the Bulls putting the ball into the right areas as fly-half Fouche drills one into the corner, with hooker Strauss set to throw.

  • 15'

That is better from Le Roux, who finds a good touch with a dab over the top that pins the Bulls inside their own 22. The visitors just about clear their lines in the aftermath but it wasn't at all pretty.

  • 13'

Boom Prinsloo was prominent there at the breakdown but his steal was kicked away poorly by Goosen, with Jurgen Visser replying well up to halfway.

  • 11'

Unfortunate for the Bulls as Fouche misses his first attempt at goal from distance, pushing his shot wide after Caylib Oosthuizen was pinged at scrum-time.

  • 9'

Bad and good for the Bulls as Fouche's pass goes forward to Van der Merwe, who also spills it. That meant a Cheetahs scrum on their own ten metre but Shaun Venter waited too long to put in so the scrum was reversed.

  • 6'

PENALTY, CHEETAHS, GOOSEN! 6-0! What a start from the youngster and the Cheetahs. Goosen doubles his side's lead from the kicking tee wide out in this Bloemfontein rain.

  • 5'

Tighthead prop Coenie Oosthuizen is penalised by referee Stuart Berry at scrum-time on halfway but the Cheetahs hold out their visitors for now. In fact here comes Johann Sadie on the counter from his own 22, breaking up to halfway.

  • 2'

DROP-GOAL, CHEETAHS, GOOSEN! 3-0! Wow, what a start from the home side as their fly-half sits back in the pocket before landing a drop from 35 metres.

  • 0'

Here we go then with Goosen kicking off to his right, finding Hattingh on his own 22 before Louis Fouche clears his lines.

  • 0'

The Cheetahs have kept the faith with the same starting XV that lost late on against the Lions while the Bulls bring in Grant Hattingh to their second-row alongside Flip van der Merwe, who is captain for the game due to the absence of Spies. Jacques Engelbrecht will subsequently wear eight.

  • 0'

Hello and welcome to the second match of this mouth-watering Super Rugby weekend. We are in Bloemfontein for this one as the Cheetahs play host to the Bulls, with both teams looking to bounce back from Round One defeats to the Lions and Sharks respectively. The Cheetahs will hope Johan Goosen shines alongside Adriaan Strauss and Willie le Roux while the Bulls, who are missing captain Pierre Spies due to injury, need centre Jan Serfontein in top form if they are to win.
