04 Apr 11:39
42'- Brumbies inside the red zone now...
  • 80'

The Brumbies run the ball across the field and then knock it on. It's been that kind of game for the most part. The siren goes before the Cheetahs put the ball in the scrum. They run the ball up, before Rhule's kick ahead is gathered by Coleman and kicked into touch.

  • 80'

  • 79'

Now the Brumbies can get out of their half as Pocock wins a penalty at the breakdown. White misses touch, but Rhule knocks on so the Brumbies will have a scrum just outside the Cheetahs 22.

  • 77'

The Brumbies' hopes of grabbing a bonus point are receding as they find themselves camped inside their own half, but they're not having too much trouble containing the Cheetahs.

  • 75'

The Cheetahs were poor for the very large majority of the first 65 minutes, but have found some attacking flair in the last 10 minutes and look determined to make more of a mark on the scoreboard. But once again they get close and then the ball is knocked on, this time by Pietersen in the tackle. White hoofs the loose ball downfield and so the Cheetahs must start again.

  • 72'

Cornal Hendricks has hardly seen any ball tonight, but finally he's able to run onto a pass and makes some good ground. A scramble for the ball brings the Cheetahs an attacking lineout, but the ball gets wrapped up in a maul and the Brumbies win a scrum.

  • 70'

The Cheetahs earn another penalty and set up the attacking lineout. But while it's successfully taken, a knock-on allows the Brumbies to clear towards halfway and so the Cheetahs will have to start again.

  • 68'

The Cheetahs make a rare foray into Brumbies territory and win a penalty, which they use to set up a lineout on the Brumbies 22. A couple of good runs from Pietersen take them close and bring sustained pressure on the hosts.

  • 65'

Some long stoppages haven't helped the rhythm of this second half. When play finally gets going again, the Brumbies win a penalty and set up the lineout 10 metres from the Cheetahs line. Nothing comes of it as Josh Mann-Rea is hustled into touch after an orchestrated move.

  • 62'

The Cheetahs run the ball from their own line, but Rhule is run wide and fails to get the ball away before he's bundled into touch. The Brumbies can build again from 40 metres out.

  • 60'

A burst of acceleration takes Speight within inches of the line, where he drops the ball under pressure from two or three Cheetahs defenders.

  • 59'

The Cheetahs hold off the first two waves from the Brumbies attack - thanks partially to a poor dummy from White - but the pressure's not over because the hosts have a scrum five metres out.

  • 57'

The Brumbies come forward once more, and a high tackle gives them a penalty inside the Cheetahs 22. The hosts fancy a crack at the bonus point now, and set up an attacking lineout.

  • 55'

Sarel Pretorius is on for the Cheetahs now, and he at least gets them going forward with a box kick that gains 35 metres and forces a Brumbies lineout 20 metres inside their own half.

  • 53'

Cheetahs going nowhere slowly here - Le Roux's usual counter-attacking zip is missing as he gives a hospital pass to Rhule, who's tackled into touch inside Cheetahs territory.

  • 49'

A rare mistake from Lealiifano as he tries to get too much distance on a penalty kick and instead finds Le Roux in the in-goal area. The Cheetahs have a 22-metre dropout.

  • 46'

CONVERSION, BRUMBIES, LEALIIFANO. 20-3. Lealiifano converts, so the Brumbies have a very handy lead now.

  • 45'

TRY, BRUMES, ENEVER. The Brumbies opt to set up the lineout, and a couple of phases later Blake Enever crashes over for his first Super Rugby try.

  • 43'

The Brumbies are on the charge again as Tomane, Speight and Pocock all make strong runs. Tomane ends up making a desperate reach for the line and is put into touch, but there was a penalty advantage anyway.

  • 41'

We?re back underway, but within a minute Coenie Oosthuizen drops a pass from Le Roux.

  • 40'

PENALTY, BRUMBIES, LEALIIFANO. 13-3. A big scrum from the Brumbies wins them a penalty, which Lealiifano easily slots to extend the home side's lead on the stroke of half-time.

  • 40'

  • 39'

A couple of resets run the clock down towards half-time. From the successful scrum, White breaks brilliantly before sending the grubber through on the inside. Speight gathers, but is brought down just short of the line. He pops the ball up but it doesn't go to hand.

  • 36'

The Cheetahs finally get their paws on the ball again and charge forward inside their own territory, but when they reach the halfway line a knock-on gifts the Brumbies a scrum.

  • 33'

The Cheetahs win the lineout and clear, but the Brumbies keep coming back at them. Fortunately for the visitors, Tomane spills the ball just as the Brumbies are looking menacing again.

  • 30'

The Brumbies use their lineout well and are soon into the Cheetahs 22. This time the visitors stand firm, and bundle the ball into touch to win a lineout on their own five-yard line.

  • 27'

All that pressure comes to nothing when the Brumbies win a penalty on their own tryline and clear the ball downfield. Great defence from the home side.

  • 24'

The Cheetahs breach the Brumbies 22 for the first time and win a penalty, which they use to set up a lineout. Another penalty allows them to create a second lineout.

  • 21'

PENALTY, BRUMBIES, LEALIIFANO. 10-3. Lealiifano restores the home side?s seven-point advantage.

  • 20'

Heinrich Brussouw is caught offside as the Brumbies come forward, and so the hosts will have a shot at goal from 40 metres.

  • 17'

PENALTY, CHEETAHS, PIETERSEN. 7-3. The Cheetahs seem to have decided that the aerial bomb is their best bet for putting pressure on the Brumbies, and this time it works as they regather the ball after a knock-on, and then win a penalty at the next breakdown. Joe Pietersen can put the visitors on the board from 25 yards out, and does.

  • 15'

Toomua has the ball on the chalk, but he's rolled over in the tackle and so the TV ref says no try. Instead the Cheetahs get a penalty because Toomua was holding on as he waited to see if the try would be given.

  • 14'

The Brumbies win a penalty and set up the lineout, from which they create a driving maul. An infringement on the five-metre line gives them another penalty, and so they set up another lineout.

  • 12'

More missed tackles by the Cheetahs mean the Brumbies are soon in striking distance of the tyrosine once more, but a misplaced pass inside by Lealiifano allows Raymond Rhule to hack clear.

  • 10'

Some relief for the Cheetahs as Willie le Roux nips in to steal the ball at the breakdown. The kick upfield gives the Brumbies a lineout so they'll start again.

  • 8'

More pressure from the Brumbies, with the Cheetahs not helping themselves by missing a tackle on a charging Ben Alexander. The Brumbies win a penalty and set up the lineout five yards out.

  • 5'

CONVERSION, BRUMBIES, LEALIIFANO. 7-0. The Brumbies have now scored the first try in their last 11 home games. And Lealiifano adds the extras.

  • 4'

TRY, BRUMES, LEALIIFANO. 5-0. Soft stuff from the Cheetahs. As the Brumbies swing the ball wide, Christian Lealiifano straightens and runs past two defenders on his way to an easy try.

  • 3'

Robust defence from the Brumbies just inside their half eventually brings a penalty, and Nic White sets up a lineout inside the Cheetahs 22-metre.

  • 1'

Matt Toomua gets us underway. There's a big hit from James Dargaville straightaway on Boom Prinsloo, but the Cheetahs hang on and win a penalty.

  • 0'

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the Brumbies versus the Cheetahs from Canberra Stadium. The Australian league leaders are the obvious favourites, especially as they come into the game off a bye and have fresh legs, but the Cheetahs are one of the more entertaining teams around and are perfectly capable of an upset.

  • 0'

David Pocock returns to openside flanker for the Brumbies, while Tevita Kuridrani has been ruled out through injury as Speight switches to 13. Pocock?s second start for the year comes on the back of a solid return two weeks ago from the bench against the Waratahs. His inclusion pushes Jarrad Butler to number eight and Ita Vaea to the bench. Blake Enever makes his first career start at lock, moving Rory Arnold out of the matchday 23, while on the bench, Allan Alaalatoa comes into jersey number 17 for JP Smith.

  • 0'

Cheetahs head coach Naka Drotské meanwhile has recalled Bok duo Le Roux and Oosthuizen, while Francois Venter is also back in the XV. Torsten van Jaarsveld and Danie Mienie also return, and the other changes made see Carl Wegner and Tian Meyer come in. Sarel Pretorius is on the bench following the birth of his second child.
