Kolisi: We’ll cope without Duane

Cape Town - Stormers flank Siya Kolisi says they’ll manage without skipper Duane Vermeueln when they host the Brumbies in a Super Rugby qualifier at Newlands on Saturday.

Vermeulen has been ruled out of the clash with a neck injury.

“We all know how good Duane is and what difference he could make, but we also saw what Nizaam Carr at No 8 and the rest of our loose forwards can do. We’ll keep our heads above water,” Kolisi told Netwerk24.

However, Brumbies coach Stephen Larkham feels the Stormers will miss Vermeulen’s presence at the breakdowns.

“Duane also makes an impact on attack, but it’s at the breakdowns where he is exceptionally good. It’s almost impossible to move him once he’s over the ball.”

Saturday’s clash at Newlands kicks off at 17:05.
