Kings sweat on Vleis, Luke

Cape Town - The Kings are sweating on the availability of loose forwards Jacques "Vleis" Engelbrecht and Luke Watson as they prepare to face the Chiefs in Port Elizabeth on Friday.

According to the Rugby15.co.za website, Engelbrecht is nursing sore ribs following Saturday night’s 21-12 loss to the Sharks.

“He has been for x-rays and everything looks okay, but we will be keeping a close eye on him and see how his recovery goes during the week,” the Kings' Director of Rugby, Alan Solomons, said.

Captain Watson is also in doubt following a throat injury in their first game against the Force on February 23.

Watson visited a specialist last week and was withdrawn from the game against the Sharks on Saturday, after originally being named on the bench.

“Luke will be doing further tests this week and will be going back to the specialist later in the week,” he said.

In other injury news, winger Michael Killian will be out for an additional four weeks after sustaining further damage to a fractured arm in training last week.

The Kings' clash against the defending Super Rugby champions kicks off at 19:10 on Friday evening.
