Kings deny Petersen's loan

Cape Town - The Eastern Province Kings say there is no loan agreement for wing Sergeal Petersen to represent the Cheetahs in Super Rugby next year.

The supersport.com website on Monday reported that the Baby Bok flyer has signed a deal to play Super Rugby with the Cheetahs before returning to play Currie Cup for the Kings.

However, EP Rugby CEO Charl Crous denied this move via a media statement on Tuesday.

“We have always said that we would assist our players to secure Super Rugby experience in the build up to our re-entry to Super Rugby in 2016,” said Crous.

“In the case of Sergeal Petersen, we have been informed by his agent that the Cheetahs are interested in securing his services for next year, but we have not yet had any discussions with them, let alone finalised any loan agreement. The announcement that Sergeal will be going to play for them is extremely premature."
