Joubert to ref Newlands derby

Cape Town - South African referees will take charge of four of the seven matches in Round 9 of Super Rugby this weekend.

Super Rugby appointments: Rounds 9-12

Craig Joubert will handle duties in the Stormers v Sharks clash at Newlands (Saturday at 17:05), while Jason Jaftha will be in charge of the match between the Bulls and Cheetahs at Loftus (Saturday at 19:10).

Jonathan Kaplan will have the whistle in the Force v Crusaders clash in Perth (Saturday at 13:45) while Jaco Peyper will be the 31st man in Auckland as the Blues tackle the Hurricanes (Saturday at 09:35)

South African referee Stuart Berry, who made several "questionable" decisions in the Cheetahs v Stormers match in Bloemfontein last weekend, has not been awarded a match - nor an assistant referee or TMO role - for the next four rounds at least, according to SANZAR's list of appointments released on Wednesday.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
