Butch, Steenkamp cited

Pretoria -  Sharks flyhalf, Butch James has been cited by Sanzar judicial officer Jannie Lubbe for a dangerous tackle on Bulls back Jurgen Visser, while Bulls lock Wilhelm Steenkamp has also been cited.

Steenkamp is alleged to have headbutted James in a ruck in the 63rd minute of Saturday's Super Rugby match between the Bulls and Sharks at Loftus Versfeld.

The incident went unpunished.

Lubbe deemed James to to have contravened Law 10.4 (e) - dangerous tackling, when he tackled Bulls utility back Jurgen Visser in the 72nd minute of the same match.

Referee, Jason Jaftha issued a yellow card for the incident.

However, upon further review of the match footage the citing commissioner deemed that the incident had met the red card threshold for foul play.

Lubbe will conduct a judicial hearing for both cases to determine the punishment for the transgressions to which James and Steenkamp must plead guilty and accept the penalty handed out to them.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
