Cape Town - Montpellier coach Jake White has lured Lions prop Schalk van der Merwe to France, reports in French media indicate.

According to the supersport.com website, Van der Merwe has signed a two-year deal with the Top 14 club and will join them at the end of the season.

Van der Merwe, 24, has fallen out of favour at the Lions and has represented their Vodacom Cup team in recent weeks.
