Jaco Taute stays in the Cape

Cape Town - Springbok fullback Jaco Taute has made his stay in Cape Town a permanent one, a report on Die Burger’s website indicates.

Taute, 22, joined the Stormers earlier this year on a loan agreement from the Lions.

His agent, Eduard Kelder from Prosport International, confirmed the news.

“Jaco has signed a two-year contract with WP. It will come into effect from November 1,” said Kelder.

Taute, who is currently sidelined with a knee injury, became a free agent in July when his contract with the Golden Lions ended, which meant he was eligible to move to any team of his choice.

Meanwhile, the future of flyhalf Elton Jantjies remains uncertain.  The Springbok also joined the Stormers on loan from the Lions, but an indifferent season appears to have scuppered his chances of being offered a permanent stay at WP.

There will be more clarity on the matter next week.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
