Hook on Stormers, Sharks list?

Cape Town - The Stormers and Sharks have reportedly shown interest in acquiring the services of Welsh flyhalf James Hook.

Hook, 28, is currently contracted with French club Perpignan but is expected to leave them after they were relegated from the Top 14. He has an opt-out clause in his contract which allows him the option to leave if they lose their top-flight status.

According to the Wales Online website, several teams have shown interest in the 75-Test capped flyhalf, with the Stormers and Sharks reportedly keen to sign Hook.

Other teams also interested are the Melbourne Rebels, London Irish, Gloucester, Lyon as well as Japanese teams.

However, it is understood that Hook is keen on returning to his old club Ospreys, who he represented 101 times between 2006 and 2011.

His return to the Welsh club may be problematic though, as it could hinge on a settlement being reached in the long-running dispute between the WRU and the regions.

Ospreys can’t make Hook a firm offer until a new funding arrangement is thrashed out between the WRU and the regions, with the existing Participation Agreement running out at the end of June.

It remains to be seen where Hook will play his rugby in the near future...
