Cape Town - The Cheetahs have found a replacement for flyhalf Johan Goosen who will leave them to further his career in France.
According to the Volksblad website, former Stormers back Joe Pietersen will play for the Cheetahs in next year's Super Rugby competition.
This comes after the Cheetahs had been unsuccessful in luring Sharks flyhalf Fred Zeilinga to Bloemfontein.
Pietersen, who joined French club Biarritz in 2013, can play fullback, wing and flyhalf, but he was lured to Bloemfontein with the aim of filling the void left by Goosen, who will further his career at French Top 14 outfit Racing Metro.
Biarritz were relegated from the Top 14 last season, which allowed Pietersen to look for new employers.
Pietersen will duel for the Cheetahs' flyhalf spot with Elgar Watts, who recently extended his contract by a further two years.
Pietersen will only be available from next year though, so Watts will be their main pivot during this year's Currie Cup.
