Gio Aplon tweets elbow agony

Cape Town - Stormers fullback Gio Aplon has tweeted a picture of his injured elbow after he was forced to take an early shower in the match against the Reds.

VIDEO: OUCH! Gio Aplon's nasty elbow injury!

Aplon was forced to leave the field in the 23rd minute in Brisbane on Saturday, in obvious pain, with fears he'd be out of action for the remainder of the tournament.

Gio dislocated his left elbow and, at this stage, it seems that he will be out of action for six to eight weeks," said Coetzee.

"It's obviously a blow to lose someone of his ability and experience, but one bit of solace is that it's not a fracture.

The Stormers lost 22-17 to the Reds and play the Waratahs at Newlands on Saturday, April 5 (kick-off 19:10) in their next match.

Gio Aplon tweeted a picture of the inflamed elbow, along with the following Twitter message:

"Bit mixed feelings, awesome 2 be Home bt pretty gutted to be out injured! #StayPositive #couldhavebeenworse #blessed pic.twitter.com/PNg3WKaJhr"
