    2015-02-19 09:04

Cape Town - South African-born prop Ross Geldenhuys will make his debut for the Highlanders when they host the Crusaders in a Super Rugby clash in Dunedin on Saturday.

Geldenhuys, 31, previously represented several South African teams, including the Golden Lions, EP Kings and Western Province.

He played for Tasman in New Zealand's ITM Cup last year, helping them reach the final where they lost 36-32 to Taranaki.

As was the case last year, Highlanders coach Jamie Joseph has again named co-captains for this season, with No 8 Nasi Manu and fullback Ben Smith to lead the side.

Joseph has selected from a near fully fit squad with just Shane Christie (hamstring), Richard Buckman (knee) and Pingi Tala’apitaga (knee) unavailable due to injury.

There are seven players set to make their Highlander debuts including Josh Hohneck, Geldenhuys and Waisake Naholo in the starting line-up.

Kick-off for Saturday’s game at Forsyth Barr is scheduled to kick off at 08:35 (SA time).
