Folau off to join Waratahs

Sydney - Waratahs fullback Israel Folau will leave Saturday for South Africa to link up with his team-mates after being cleared of a throat injury, team officials said.

Wallaby star Folau was unable to leave with the team last weekend due to swelling in the throat from a blow he received during the Waratahs 32-8 win over the Melbourne Rebels.

However he was given the all clear on Thursday, officials said.

Folau, who has scored eight tries from four games this season, will miss this weekend's Super Rugby game against the Sharks in Durban.

But officials said Folau would be available to play for the Waratahs against the Stormers in Cape Town the following weekend.
