Cape Town - Lions centre Dylan des Fountain has been forced to retire from professional rugby due to a knee injury.
The 28-year-old has struggled with knee injuries throughout his career and has decided to follow medical advice and call it a day.
The Lions announced the news via their official Twitter account on Wednesday.
"Dylan Des Fountain has announced his retirement from professional rugby after medical advice due to a knee injury. Best of luck!!," the tweet read.
Des Fountain joined the Lions in 2011 after previously representing Aironi (Italy) and Western Province/Stormers.
He was schooled at Paarl Gymnasium and represented the Blue Bulls' junior teams after leaving school.
