Concern over Sharks' Du Toit

    2014-03-14 09:02
Cape Town - The Sharks and Springboks will hold their breath over the extent of the injury to lock Pieter-Steph du Toit.

The 21-year-old has been ruled out of the Sharks' clash against the Reds due to a knee injury.

He went down in training on Thursday and according to the Beeld website, there are fears that he tore knee ligaments which could mean the end of his season.

The Sharks are still waiting on scan results to determine the severity of the injury but will be holding their breath as Du Toit is touted by many to have a long international career.

Should Du Toit be ruled out for an extended period, it would also be a big blow to the Springboks. Du Toit played two Tests for the Boks last year.

Stephan Lewies has replaced Du Toit in the Sharks starting team for Saturday's match at Kings Park, which kicks off at 17:05.
