Coetzee: Fourie will aim straight

Cape Town - Stormers coach Allister Coetzee is confident hooker Deon Fourie's lineout throwing will be better this weekend against the Waratahs.

Fourie had a nightmare against the Reds in Brisbane last week, losing no fewer than eight lineouts.

It's an unacceptable stat at Super Rugby level, but in Fourie's defence it was the first time he had played hooker since May last year. Due to a crisis at lock, the Stormers were also forced to pick Michael Rhodes and Jurie van Vuuren as lock pairing.

But the coach feels Fourie will be better against the Waratahs on Saturday night.

"The big challenge is psychological in nature. Deon is a fighter and will get it right this weekend," Coetzee told Die Burger's website.

"It's not only Deon, but a combination of factors. We've worked hard on it."

Duane Vermeulen, who will captain the Stormers in Jean de Villiers's absence on Saturday, had sympathy for Fourie.

"It's just a matter of accurate execution. The problems arose due to the injuries we had at lock and hooker. Deon had to start at hooker for the first time in a long while. There was a lot of pressure."

Kick-off for Saturday's game at Newlands is scheduled for 19:10.
