Coenie a 'regular bar fighter'

2012-02-23 09:57

Bloemfontein - Springbok and Cheetahs prop Coenie Oosthuizen, who allegedly assaulted a young man at a bar, was heavily bandaged during a Cheetahs training session on Wednesday.

Oosthuizen allegedly assaulted the man after interfering in a quarrel between patrons at the Barba’s bar in Bloemfontein.

Oosthuizen is said to have told one of the men: “I will p**s you to death.”

The young man and a friend left the bar after Oosthuizen allegedly shoved and threatened him.

According to the friend Oosthuizen followed them outside and landed a blow that floored him.

Oosthuizen then sat on him and continued the beating for bystanders in the street to see, he said.

Several patrons said Oosthuizen often provokes fights at Barba’s.

Michael Horak, Cheetahs assistant coach, would not comment on whether the bandages were nursing a bruised punching hand.

He also declined to comment on whether disciplinary action will be taken against Oosthuizen.

“The allegations are being investigated.”

    Such A Drol.......

      Jean - 2012-02-23 10:29

He acts like a bulls player!

      Dirk - 2012-02-23 10:33

Give us entertainment- repeat that in his face.

      Sonnyjakes - 2012-02-23 10:43

      @ Jean, how pathetic!

      Bob - 2012-02-23 11:43

Maybe he should try picking on SBW, instead of some poor guy probably half his size in the pub, bad reflection on him, his club and Rugby in general.

      nadine.devilliers - 2012-02-23 13:24

      @Sonnyjakes - yes the bulls are pathetic!! Well said - 2012-02-23 14:09

@ Dirk. It's that sort of behaviour and comment that promotes his behaviour. He should be condemned for his behaviour not have it used to threaten more violence.

      Nicholas - 2012-02-23 14:27

This tough guy should take up boxing and then face someone his own size who can fight. Instead of having a bandage on his hand, it will be around his head. Poephol.

      Ian - 2012-02-23 14:48

Hate Jocks and Douche-bags, all they bring to the world is muscles and anger, a total waste of fresh air in my opinion. Try reading a book and getting educated, you wont fight anymore, un-evolved tool.

      Leon - 2012-02-23 15:59

Best way to fix him is to hit with a news paper everytime he humps your legg or chews your furniture, and when he pee's on the carpet you shove his nose in it. Oh, and you give him a biscuit when he stands on his two hind legs.

      jrdevilliers - 2012-02-23 16:01

What a typical bonehead thing to do....let me guess, its a CLUTCHPLATE!

      Faan - 2012-02-23 17:52

I think Coenie's victim looked for trouble and got what he deserved. Rule of thump... if a man is big and strong, don't provoke him... It’s just not gonne end up good for you.

  • Saffa - 2012-02-23 10:03

Bloody sad actually. Such a talented young man. I don't reckon he should be judged that harshly, but rather pushed into a direction in which he can receive the necessary support. Being a sportsman does not protect a person from the usual addictions, mental afflictions and dodgy childhoods regular folk have to deal with. And if I recall, he has admitted on interviews that his childhood was less than ideal, until he went to Grey Bloem? Anyways, I hope the young man can move forward.

      Jason - 2012-02-23 10:28

I agree, young guy need a shove in the right direction. These guys are so pumped on testosterone and so physically strong, they are walking hardons.................and when you aint getting laid sorry for the poor blokes around you. lol

      Dick - 2012-02-23 11:37

i would like to take that guy to Cape Town with me, he might just moer some sense into some dum Capetonians

      Lionel - 2012-02-23 11:49

@Dick,specially the ones at Bronx, your local hang out joint!!!

      Saffa - 2012-02-23 12:28

@Lionel - Brannas aka Dick, knows 1st hand about being beaten up in night clubs.....especially Cape ones.

      Lionel - 2012-02-23 12:39

Exactly Saffa,if I am not mistaken it was at the Bronx as well!!!

      Sean - 2012-02-23 12:55

Sorry Saffa, can't agree. He is just a bully. I hope one day he picks on the wrong guy and gets shot in the face. Maybe that will correct his behavior.

      John - 2012-02-23 13:23

      Dick.... what an appropriate name...

      Ian - 2012-02-23 15:18

@Dick, you are obviously compensation for a huge lack of intellect. I cant stand people like you, nothing to add to society, just misery and agression. I bet your idea of a good time is going to bars and looking for people to start fights with, invariably people who are smaller than you. Such ignorance, try making friends with people when you go out next time, you might actually have some fun.

      AntonKingsize - 2012-02-23 17:28

      Haha . . .Dick hangs out at the Bronx . . .

  • Eduard - 2012-02-23 10:07

    Bar brawler strikes again.

  • warren.d.manning - 2012-02-23 10:13

    Watta tool..

      Andrew - 2012-02-23 10:23

Imagine if he started a fight with Mauro and/or Marco Petrella...that would be the end of Coenie as we know him :->

  • Stuka - 2012-02-23 10:17

The thing is, for every tiger out there, there's always another tiger with your ticket. Coenie "die tier" Oosthuizen will one day pick a fight with the wrong guy who will knock his socks off or even worse stab him or give him acute lead poisoning in self defense. Maybe the chap should do some anger management or alcoholic anonymous therapy, it might just save his life.

      David - 2012-02-23 13:14

Hey Coenie, come to joburg and try your sh#t here please. You will get your head shoved up your A$$ so quickly it wont be funny. Question ,was the guy looking at you when you punched him or did you take the liberty shot like all cowards do....

  • stefan.vanderspuy - 2012-02-23 10:26

The Cheetahs should give him an ultimatum: Focus your agression on playing clean, hard rugby, or choose the seedy life of a bar room brawler... - 2012-02-23 13:57

And that is the problem with that union. They aren't even saying if they are going to investigate the incident. Most unprofessionaly run union in SA.

  • Micah - 2012-02-23 10:27

Steroids and klippies not a good combination.

  • Helmut - 2012-02-23 10:40

    Brainless Bully

  • Koos - 2012-02-23 10:42

mmm.... nice voorbeeld vir kinders Coenie... jou ouers is seker baie trots op jou!

  • Justin - 2012-02-23 10:47

      Andy - 2012-02-23 11:10

      Does mummy still pray?

      Koos - 2012-02-23 11:11

Andy... how is uncle bryce doing....... besides doing sheep... i hope he is styding the rugby laws again......

      Heiku - 2012-02-23 11:13

I take it you have an abundance of nosy idiots in your neck of the woods. ps. Please keep your neck in your woods. Thanks. - 2012-02-23 13:59

No thugs in this place? Bwhahahaha. Actually you may be right, I'd call aussies druken lots rather than thugs, not tough enough to be thugs.

      Philip - 2012-02-23 21:47

I got a question for Andy and it's been bugging me for years .... here it goes. Why does Aussie blokes always smell so bad ?

  • Craig - 2012-02-23 10:48

Another Jan Lock in the making????

      frans.visserdsb - 2012-02-24 07:30

      or Bees Roux...

  • Burton - 2012-02-23 10:52

He thinks he rules the rugby scene and can do what he wants, one day a guy is not gonna care that he is Coenie Vetgat and send him straight to hospital. What a chop!!!!

  • francoisswart0 - 2012-02-23 10:53

    I think Coenie is a p**s

  • leonard.w.gray - 2012-02-23 11:02

How can you p**s someone to death??

      Koos - 2012-02-23 11:07

ha ha ha ha ha Len...... very good question that!!! ha ha ha ha ha ha

      Heiku - 2012-02-23 11:15

Protip: Don't ask that around the pubs in bloem.

      Saffa - 2012-02-23 12:29

Welllllllllllllllllllllll - AIDS is a killer?

      moss1 - 2012-02-23 14:48

Exactly what I was thinking. . . .Maybe lost in translation, a little like "I will frow u wiff a stone"

      Maryke - 2012-02-23 15:00

It's a very popular thing to say in Afrikaans... in some circles. I don't understand it.

      Philip - 2012-02-23 21:52

@ Heiku , ok so looks like this is the trend in Bloem .... The cheetah supporters already following his example.

  • Andrew Worrall - 2012-02-23 11:10

He Coenie control himself. Maybe he needs a prop up the backside

  • Mark - 2012-02-23 11:10

Stop the bar-fights ou vetseun, you'll never be the man your mom is!

  • jurgen.eksteen - 2012-02-23 11:15

He is going to be in tears and red in the face on television soon with a list of apologies being read and how the devil that made him do it when the crap hits the fan for him. When the dust settles he'll simply go back to hitting people ... the true nature of a bully. Big balls, small hart that easily bruises and even smaller brain.

      jurgen.eksteen - 2012-02-23 15:17

Finally ... bully with a thumbs down. I'm sooooo scared.

  • Doc - 2012-02-23 11:27

Good way to help Afrikaner stereotyping. A-hole, guys like you give us a bad name. Of course I will not say it to your face.

  • Hallo - 2012-02-23 11:39

  • Peter - 2012-02-23 11:40

    Pure class from the Cheetahs...

  • Riette - 2012-02-23 11:41

Rugby unions always pride themselves about the 'life skills' they teach the players. Why don't they identify agro players early on and use their many available sources to help these guys - they have sports psychologists on the payroll. Just imagine if they identified Bakkies’ and Kuhn’s aggression problems early in their careers and helped them to focus their aggression into positive energy on the rugby field. Teams will ‘save’ on yellow cards and missed games due to disciplinary action against those players. I know teams have rules, but some guys need more than that.

  • Leon - 2012-02-23 11:50

Somewhere sometime someone is going to beat the living daylights out of this guy, he seems like a regular bully

  • Matt - 2012-02-23 11:56

Eina.

  • Francois - 2012-02-23 12:25

“I will p**s you to death.” What does that mean? I will piss you to death? He must have had a lot of beer...

      Kent - 2012-02-23 15:51

2 Francois. It means he has a big bladder in the vicinity of his studio.

  • Jeremy - 2012-02-23 12:26

Net soos Ollie - He also liked his bar brawls! he was a bouncer nogal...... - 2012-02-23 14:02

Both of them are round enough to bounce pretty high.

  • sakkie.lessing - 2012-02-23 12:39

He looks like and acts like a bulls player, but he looks like a typical Bully that can only take smaller guys on. One day he will pick a fight with the wrong guy. I know guys, not one a few, in Bloem that will swipe the floor with him

  • Schalk - 2012-02-23 13:06

julle klomp GROOT BEKKE sal dit nie in sy gesig vir hom se nie!!!!! hy het eintlik n sagte hart... toemaar Coenie ons staan agter jou!!!

      David - 2012-02-23 14:01

I will say it to his face @Schalk and yours as well, YOU SUCK, so bring it on - 2012-02-23 14:05

It's that sort of behaviour and comment that promotes his behaviour. He should be condemned for his behaviour not have it used to threaten more violence.

      Nicholas - 2012-02-23 14:24

      "ons"? jy bedoel jy.

      marnusmnorval - 2012-02-23 14:50

      Fanie - 2012-02-23 19:32

Magtig ek is nie n bul fan nie maar nou se jy hulle sleg.

  • 8pixeldrops - 2012-02-23 13:44

At least the bloke did not pitch up naked like Zack Gilford.Second the guys got Issues clearly.Bar brawling is old school and Coenie is old school. But in Todays life if you got issues and wanna make point and got too much energy. Why not organize a boxing match with Sonny Bill Willaims or a like and make some Money with that Anger put that anger in the Right place and you'll have a Drive.Coenie and if it's Chicks you need do some Charity boxing matches or Fights then you can vent that Anger! Alcohol has destroyed many champs.

  • Louis - 2012-02-23 13:51

Please people leave Coenie alone and stop all of these negative comments about him. He was molested as a child and has got a small piepie syndrome. Not his fault blame his parents or the devil made him do it???

  • Riaan - 2012-02-23 14:16

Common Free State rubbish!!. Probably beats his wife/girlfriend as well.

  • Pieto - 2012-02-23 14:22

Coenie!! jou mam-parra! dis mense soos jy wat professionele rugbyspelers 'n slegte naam gee. toemaar een vd dae speel julle teen die Sharks dan gaan "Bizzy" jou floor!

Rugby is a dumb sport reserved for dumb people. I hope my kids one day won't play that game.

      Vincent - 2012-02-23 18:49

Is that why you read and comment on a rugby blog??

  • cdryall - 2012-02-23 15:15

If true this is seriously, seriously disappointing - I thought he would be a future BOK star but that sheen is fading rapidly..

  • Adrian - 2012-02-23 15:21

Typical bonehead...."i can like to be fighting small okes to prove my dutchmanness" what a plank

  • Deon - 2012-02-23 15:35

      Fanie - 2012-02-23 19:37

  • jrdevilliers - 2012-02-23 16:04

What a typical bonehead thing to do....let me guess, its a CLUTCHPLATE!

  • Patrick - 2012-02-23 16:30

i wish he would try SONNY BILL WILLIAMS!!! pls let that happen

      Dolphin - 2012-02-24 05:40

Hey dude, SBW can only fight has beens. Bet a little feather weight that is a REAL boxer will take him out pronto. I see some of the guys are very intimidated by the Bulls this year. Just remember Stormpies, Bulls might be bullies. But your players hit their ladies....Remember Percy kicking his wife and Earl the Pearl Rose beating up his GF when playing for province?

  • Michael - 2012-02-23 16:50

He must be punished by SARU the same thing happened to the All Blacks wing last year and was suspended we need to follow suite , theses guys are role models and should behave like them ,

  • henco.swart - 2012-02-23 17:14

Hey, guys, Bees Roux has already left Pretoria, this is a Cheetahs player, that did this in Bloem. Why do you have to prove your bias by assuming all Bulls are like this? And is Andries Bekker not a two timing cheating womanizer? Oh, and let's not forget Earl Rose, a druggie who beats up his girlfriend. Joost... ja, well, no, fine? I lost all resoect for Joost as well. Let's see, is there anyone else out there that can bring any dirt? How about mentioning Dries Maritz's sins? Somewhere along the line, your team will have a bad apple that has a bad day, and it will make bad headlines. I don't condone this kind of behavior, but some people's hypocrissy is even more sickening than what these rugby players get up to. Yes, of course, it's only in South Africa that our sport stars do bad things... or what? What did the English do at the RWC? Rather just comment on your own sins.

  • Garth - 2012-02-23 17:20

    what a douche bag!

  • Attie - 2012-02-23 19:18

Ek beskou dit as swak smaak.... Dis `n GROOT ~ NEE~ vir my.!!

  • Fanie - 2012-02-23 19:25

Remember Dalton? where is he now. I say get rid of Oosthuizen. if you don't, it will serve you right if you lose the franchise for 2013 playing in the super 15. We as rugby supporters will ask Toyota to stop the sponsorship. the big sportsmen of the world are advocating that bulling must stop and we expect our rugby players also to do so. We do not threaten you Mr Freestate but suspend this man immediately or you will have a toffee apple in your hands. Toyota must surely realize that they can lose a lot of business if people start boycoting there products.

  • Fanie - 2012-02-23 19:27

Faan you walk away from trouble as what the young men did. It followed them.

  • Philip - 2012-02-23 20:31

until the day someone donners him into a coma .... his family will be asking why ??? With this sort of behaviour you are bound to meet your match
