Chiefs beat Reds, seal playoff berth

Cape Town - The Chiefs booked their spot in the 2015 Super Rugby playoffs with victory over the Reds in Brisbane on Saturday.

The Chiefs won 24-3 after leading 14-3 at half-time.

The Chiefs scored the only three tries of the match through wing Bryce Heem, flank Liam Messam and centre Charlie Ngatai. Centre Andrew Horrell added all three conversions and a penalty.

The Reds replied with a solitary penalty by flyhalf Quade Cooper.

The Chiefs picked up four points for their victory and moved into second place in the New Zealand Conference and fourth in the Overall standings.

The Reds left empty-handed and remained fourth in the Australian Conference and 12th in the Overall log.

In next weekend's Round 18 action, the Chiefs host the Hurricanes in New Plymouth (Saturday, June 13 at 09:35), while the Reds finish their season away to the Waratahs in Sydney (Saturday, June 13 at 11:40).
