Cheetahs to sack Drotske?

Cape Town - Naka Drotske is likely to get the sack as Super Rugby coach of the Cheetahs.

According to Netwerk24, Franco Smith is set to accept the role of Currie Cup and Super Rugby coach of the Cheetahs.

The Cheetahs last month offered Smith the role of Currie Cup head coach, after he guided Shimlas to their maiden Varsity Cup title.

He was initially only due to be the backline coach of the Free State Cheetahs in the Currie Cup, with Rory Duncan the head coach.

However, Smith is in high demand elsewhere and the Cheetahs are doing everything in their power to keep him in Bloemfontein.

Duncan has been offered the role of Director of Rugby, while the whereabouts of Drotske is unclear.

Drotske's contract only expires next year, but it appears his days as Cheetahs Super Rugby coach are numbered.

Drotske has been the Cheetahs' head coach in Super Rugby since 2008, after guiding Free State to their last Currie Cup triumph in 2007.
