Cheetahs rest top Springboks

    Cape Town - Cheetahs coach Naka Drotske has named his team to tackle the Chiefs in a Super Rugby clash at Waikato Stadium on Saturday.

    Drotske made several changes to his starting line-up from the one which lost 57-14 to the Crusaders in Christchurch last weekend.

    Six players move up from the bench for this weekend's clash.

    Springboks Willie le Roux and Coenie Oosthuizen are being rested as per agreement with the South African Rugby Union to rest top Boks during the competition.

    Another Springbok - flank Oupa Mohoje - is on his way home after picking up a groin injury during last Saturday’s match against the Crusaders. He is expected to be out of action for 8-12 weeks. Tienie Burger will be joining the team on tour as a replacement.

    Centre Francois Venter is also rested, while flyhalf Joe Pietersen will be standing in for Sarel Pretorius as vice-captain for the match. 

    Pretorius will be join the team on Sunday in Sydney after the birth of his second son on Tuesday, with Shaun Venter to return South Africa after Saturday’s encounter.

    Saturday's clash is scheduled for 05:30 (SA time).
