Cape Town - The Cheetahs are hoping that loose forward Lappies Labuschagné will shake off his injury and be ready to face the Reds this weekend.
Labuschagné has been sidelined since injuring his elbow against the Kings three weeks ago. Without him, the Cheetahs struggled at the breakdowns in their 39-34 loss to the Hurricanes in Bloemfontein on Friday.
His potency on attack was also missed, according to coach Naka Drotské.
"Lappies brings a lot to our attack, especially in the wider channels. He is also a good ball carrier and lineout option. We really missed him," Drotské told the Volksblad website.
Meanwhile, captain Adriaan Strauss is confident they can sort out little errors in their play in time for Saturday's game against the men from Brisbane.
"We have a tough week ahead of us and we'll have to work hard, but everything that went wrong against the Hurricanes can be fixed," said Strauss.
"We can sort out the breakdowns and our discipline, and also improve tactically."
After Friday's loss, the Cheetahs are now seventh on the overall log, with seven wins and four losses. They remain second in the South African conference.
Their clash against the Reds kicks off at 19:10 on Saturday night.
