Cheetahs' Strauss suspended

Cape Town -  Cheetahs centre Andries Strauss has accepted a guilty plea for a dangerous tip tackle on Lions lock Wikus van Heerden during their Super Rugby clash in Johannesburg on Saturday.

Strauss contravened Law 10.4 (j) (Lifting a player from the ground and dropping or driving that player into the ground whilst that player’s feet are still off the ground), and has subsequently been suspended for two weeks.

The incident occurred in the 12th minute of the match, which the Lions won 27-25.

SANZAR Duty Judicial Officer Mike Heron assessed the case.
