Cape Town - Cheetahs No 8 Philip van der Walt will be sidelined for eight weeks after breaking his hand.
The Cheetahs posted on their official Facebook page that Van der Walt will go under the knife on Wednesday afternoon.
Lappies Labuschagné should replace Van der Walt in the Cheetahs loose trio for this weekend's game against the Chiefs in Bloemfontein, with Boom Prinsloo to slot in at No 8.
Oupa Mohoje will be a substitute.
Kick-off for Saturday's match at the Free State Stadium is scheduled for 15:00.
