Carter to christen new posts

2012-03-15 09:51

Christchurch - Crusaders flyhalf Dan Carter will mark a major milestone in the journey to bring the Crusaders back home on Friday, by kicking the first ball over the goal posts at the new Christchurch Stadium.

According to the allblacks.com website, with just nine days to go until the first Super Rugby game at the new stadium, it is nearing completion.

The turf is down, seating is in, lights have been tested, and field markings are in place.

The installation of the goal posts on Friday is another major step towards the Crusaders having a home stadium again. Carter will join construction staff at the stadium to help guide the goal posts into position, and will then do the honour of kicking the first ball over the posts.

When the Crusaders take on the Cheetahs on March 24 it will be their first game in Christchurch since May 2010.

There's stiff competition vying for the No#10 jersey now because of DC's injury. Maybe his injury was a blessing in disguise concerning last years fears of who'd be our back-up #10. Hopefully under Blackadder he won't be used as a porn to win games for the Saders as much as he's needed for the AB's during internationals. Probably against the Cheetahs he'll play for 5-20 mins of game time acclimatizing back.

      Bluey - 2012-03-15 10:15

Actually, I probably shouldn't have used the term "stiff" competion since it was a groin strain.

      SiLawless - 2012-03-15 10:35

bluey, i think you mean "pawn" not "porn"

Here's an idea, don't throw stones or in your case, don't throw drink bottles. All said and done, it's a great feeling that you're a Blues supporter now. Thanks mate

      Bulldozer - 2012-03-15 11:47

If it was Morne Steyn, the kick would've been made from half way. Dan will probably kick from right under the posts.

      Bulldozer - 2012-03-15 11:43

      Huh?

      Bluey - 2012-03-15 12:03

Let me me out of the Vortex. It's a rugby forum man........talk your crap to the UN, first I thought pozer talked crap but you've surpassed Dozzer......afterall, Dozzer supports the Blues, good man Dozer.

      Bulldozer - 2012-03-15 12:04

      Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn.

      Deon - 2012-03-15 12:12

Last weekend he (Steyn) could not even throw one over. Luckilly he won't miss any kicks this weekend.

      Justin - 2012-03-15 13:09

Intresting seeing that if it was a tackling contest then morne should be in the stands.

      Bluey - 2012-03-15 16:37

      @Raving Raven, I didn't delete my coment.

  • Vimalin - 2012-03-15 11:20

laughs if he misses the 1st kick! Would they give him a 2nd chance? "Do it again, Danny"

  • Charl - 2012-03-15 11:27

morne steyn dreams of Dan Carter. he wish he was half as good as Carter.

      Charl - 2012-03-15 11:50

transporter.... is j 10 jaar oud of wat? wat van j shut up en begin weer praat wanne jou arme span nog so paar bekers gewen het (wat nie gaan gebeur nie). want 7 teen 3 lyk nie vi my of j iets het om rerig oor te spog nie. CRUSADERS!

      hvanderlinde - 2012-03-15 11:55

Last year Carter's kicking percentage in Super Rugby was 6 places worse than Steyn's who in turn was 4 places behind Grant. You do the math

      Charl - 2012-03-15 12:20

flyhalfs isnt only about kicking.. unless its morne steyn. Carters can actually put away his backline and give them a good ball. morne can barely pass a ball.
