Carter set to face Cheetahs

Cape Town - All Black flyhalf Dan Carter is set to make his return from injury when the Crusaders face the Cheetahs in a Super Rugby clash on Saturday.

The website, tvnz.co.nz, reports that Carter will make the Crusaders' 22-man squad for the clash at the New Christchurch Stadium on Saturday.

It will be the first time the Crusaders will play in Christchurch since their old home ground AAMI Stadium suffered severe damage in the February 2011 earthquake.

It will also be Carter's first match since he sustained a groin injury during last year's World Cup.

"I think you'd expect Daniel to be in the 22. Whether he starts we still have to make a decision but we are just really pleased that we are going to be able to include him... (he is) more likely to be on the bench to be honest," Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder said.

"He's 100% except for his goal kicking but he just needs to do a little bit more work."

Carter said he is looking forward to getting back on the field.

"I had a good week last week training with the team and got through everything fine and now I'll get another full week under my belt and put myself in contention for selection," he said.

"It will be exciting to get back out on the field again."

The Cheetahs are on a high after their last-gasp win over the Rebels on Sunday, while the Crusaders will be eager to rebound after back-to-back losses to the Highlanders and Chiefs.
