Lions' Butch James suspended

Cape Town - Lions replacement flyhalf Butch James has been suspended for four weeks after he was cited for foul play in their clash against the Brumbies.

SANZAR Duty Judicial Officer Mike Heron accepted a guilty plea from James for contravening Law 10.4 (h) (A player must not charge into a ruck or maul. Charging includes any contact made without use of the arms, or without grasping that player), after he was cited following the match on Friday evening.

James charged into a ruck near the Brumbies goalline and made contact with Brumbies lock Scott Fardy after a penalty had been blown to the Lions.

James has been suspended from all forms of the game up to and including Saturday, 26 May 2012.

The incident occurred in the 63rd minute of the match at Coca-Cola Park, which the Brumbies won 34-20.

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
