Burgess set to face Brumbies

Melbourne - Former Wallabies scrumhalf Luke Burgess has been rushed into the Melbourne Rebels squad and could make a comeback to Super Rugby as early as Friday's match against the Brumbies.

Burgess, who was starting scrumhalf in 23 of his 37 Tests for Australia, has spent two seasons playing for French Top 14 club Toulouse since his last international match at the 2011 Rugby World Cup.

The 29-year-old Burgess was set to join the Rebels for the 2014 season, but has been drafted in earlier than expected due to a combination of injuries at the Rebels and the selection of Nick Phipps in Australia's squad for a three-Test series against the British and Irish Lions.
