Bulls sing to their supporters

Pretoria - The Bulls launched their 2013 Super Rugby campaign with a difference on Monday, posting a video of their call to arms to supporters with their own version of “Stand by me”.

VIDEO: Bulls sing to their fans

According to the supersport.com website, led in song by captain Pierre Spies and ably supported by the rest of his loose trio in the two Potgieters - Jacques and Dewald - the team modify the words of the classic tune and call on all “bulle” to stand by them.

While team songs are a norm in the United Kingdom and in football in general, the Bulls rendition is cut to the bone, acapella style and is sung only by the players in their changeroom.

The song forms part of their “Stand by the Bulls” campaign this year as they try and recapture their Super Rugby glory of victories in 2007, 2009 and 2010.

The team has kicked off its pre-season preparations well, beating both the Lions and Cheetahs in their warm-up games and will face their nemesis, the Stormers on Friday, February 22 (kick-off 19:10) at Loftus Versfeld to kick off the South African leg of the tournament.
