Bulls keep same starting XV

2015-03-05 14:08

Pretoria - Bulls coach Frans Ludeke named the same run-on team from last weekend to face the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein on Saturday in their first away trip in the 2015 Super Rugby competition.

The same XV that ran out in the 43-35 win over the Sharks will front up in the Free State Stadium as the Bulls look to build the momentum gathered from the win against the coastal side.

Ludeke only made one change to the bench, where Piet van Zyl returns to Bloemfontein to face his former Super Rugby team.

“We finally found the momentum we were looking for in the opening rounds of the competition against the Sharks and managed four tries,” Ludeke said in Pretoria on Thursday.

“We will need the confidence and rhythm picked up on the weekend against the Cheetahs. They are one of the early front runners and will be full of self-belief. I am happy to name the same team. This is not only a vote of confidence, but we are also blessed with no injuries, something that hampered our consistency in the first couple of weeks,” the coach said.

Bulls captain, Pierre Spies, who scored one of the four tries against the Sharks last weekend, was keen for his troops to continue their positive mind-set on attack and self-belief in the set-phases.

“We did front up last weekend and for the first time this season, managed to finish when we created try-scoring opportunities. Training was much easier this week as the belief came back. We had a good week and are again looking for a good result. It will not be easy. They won in Bloem last year, something we need to change,” Spies said.

Kick off for Saturday’s clash at the Free State Stadium is scheduled for 17:05.

      Tyronne Jardim - 2015-03-05 14:59

      @John .....absolutely Brilliant

      Hein Makkink - 2015-03-05 15:24

Bulle het altyd 'n kans, maar as mens teen die ref en die TMO speel is dit moeilik, kom ons hoop ou Greeff straf bietjie die ander span ook...

      Mark Sharks - 2015-03-05 15:40

Should be unchanged 16, the TMO from last week end is also in the squad this week end isnt he?

      Justin Adams - 2015-03-05 15:47

      They forgot player 24: Greef

      Luke Baker1 - 2015-03-05 18:05

Good, I expect big things from this side going forward.... A bit of fish food isn't enough.

      rugga.sharks - 2015-03-05 18:51

Easy win for the bulls, match officials on the payrol

  • Stephen Trenam - 2015-03-05 13:21

watch out, fatty wants a pie. The Bulls won't last this tournament. The Sharks were making a lot of errors and weren't making the best of their opportunities, on top of that the Bulls had the TMO's favour. Despite these factors the Bulls were lucky to walk away with a win, their overall form is sad and they'll probably have another dismal year.

      Gluteus Maximus - 2015-03-05 13:31

Verstaan julle Planks wat die naaimoer sê? Ek nie.

      Stephen Trenam - 2015-03-05 13:33

Go take your Gluteus and place them on your Spies poster.

      Jeffrey Aucamp - 2015-03-05 13:36

The Bulls have the best hooker, lock, fly half, fullback and centre in SA. They will always be a threat.

      Smeag Goll - 2015-03-05 13:37

Trennt So far the Saarks year look just as dismal. Sat you play the Stormers which you probably will loose and the Bulls the Cheetahs, which they probably will win. That means your year will be looking much worse than the Bulls come Sunday

      Stephen Trenam - 2015-03-05 13:40

I agree that Strauss and Matfield are experienced and dangerous, but as for the rest they're over rated and their impact doesn't go further than their house doors they slam closed after gulping their steroids.

      Gluteus Maximus - 2015-03-05 13:43

Sorry Trenham, I have Cortina and Falcon posters, oh and Iron Maiden posters in my room.

      Garryn Nod - 2015-03-05 13:46

"The Bulls have the best hooker, lock, fly half, fullback, centre, TMO and ref in SA. They will always be a threat". Fixed that for you Jeffrey

      Stephen Trenam - 2015-03-05 13:51

Smeag Goll, maybe you should first work on your English sonny, at this rate you don't warrant a reply.

      Smeag Goll - 2015-03-05 14:06

      WHAHAHAHAH Trenny Really. Speachless again

      Connie van Zyl - 2015-03-05 14:58

@Gluteus Don't forget the Metallica, Megadeth and Judas Priest posters. I doubt Turdnam knows who any of them are. He is used to Justina Bieber, Miley Vyrus and Lady Crap.

      Tyronne Jardim - 2015-03-05 15:01

Oh Jeffie don't forget the Bulls have the best TMO is the business too..hahahaha

      Connie van Zyl - 2015-03-05 15:30

I forgot to add Slayer and Pantera...

      Tyronne Jardim - 2015-03-05 21:05

@Connie knowing those bands makes you better than anyone else ...interesting this Plank Power again?

  • Werner Coetzer - 2015-03-05 13:36

Die artikel bedoel starting XVII, Jaco van Heerden is op die kantlyn en Johan Greeff op TMO. GO CHEETAHS

      Smeag Goll - 2015-03-05 13:44

      Blah Blah, whatever...

  • Martin De Kock - 2015-03-05 13:40

Julle Bulle gaan groot pak kry teen die Cheetahs.

      Smeag Goll - 2015-03-05 13:44

Hmm dalk gaan die Cheetahs groot pakslae kry by die Bulls

      Jeffrey Aucamp - 2015-03-05 13:50

      Martin, Sakkie De Kock.

  • Garryn Nod - 2015-03-05 13:40

The heading to this article is misleading "Bulls name unchanged starting XV" it should read "Bulls name unchanged starting XVI" , they using the same TMO as last week.

      Jeffrey Aucamp - 2015-03-05 13:52

      And the whining continues.

      Kevin Lowings - 2015-03-05 21:32

I never thought that as a sharks fan I'd be saying. .......... go Cheetahs

  • Terry Burne - 2015-03-05 14:39

The Bulls have even picked the same TMO - Why change a winning combination?

  • Tyronne Jardim - 2015-03-05 14:49

Well what we can expect from this game is Matfield hanging on to every player in the cheetahs squad ...cause at his age ...he battles to walk...its still illegal though in rugby ...especially if the player has not even joined the ruck .....The Bulls top signing Mr Greeff.....will be making his rather dubious choices once he is called upon .....after all he must do his job .....can expect alot of forward passes from the Bulls and Greeff will judge them fine .....with his Bull horns and his brandywine in his booth.....Spies running sideways to the side lines thinking its the try line ...the usual stuff ....anyway Cheetahs for the Win

      Jaycee Bezuidenhout - 2015-03-05 17:14

Dom Koos, n plank met n passie vir h@lle..

      Tyronne Jardim - 2015-03-05 21:07

Why you Jealous Koos?....or is it Plank Power?

      Kevin Lowings - 2015-03-05 21:28

As an ABB supporter (anybody but the bulls) I'm in full agreement. Best person in the game last weekend was the TMO. I believe he received a gold plated white stick and his guide dog got a nice slab of biltong as man of the match

      Kevin Lowings - 2015-03-05 21:30

Yup Matfield was like a girlfriend you've just broken up with Hanging on to stop you running away

  • John Snyman - 2015-03-05 14:50

Bulls beter oppas vir klein Joe Pietersen

      Werner Smit - 2015-03-05 15:57

Joe beter oppas dat hougaard nie kringe om hom hardwood nie of bo oor hom nie.

      Garryn Nod - 2015-03-05 16:06

Hougie wont even break the defence, infact i think the last thing he broke was his nose during a practice session this week

      Gideon Smalberger - 2015-03-05 17:15

garry nod daai was nou die comment van die dag

  • Nicola Haupt - 2015-03-05 15:14

Oupa kan die naweek hoor of die nr 5 van die Bulle nie wil name ruil nie!!!!!!

  • Mark Sharks - 2015-03-05 15:39

Should be unchanged 16, the TMO from last week end is also in the squad this week end isnt he?

      Mark Sharks - 2015-03-06 14:14

The bulls got their 1st and probably last win of the season and it is because your coach must have paid the TMO. This shouldnt be taken lightly, your opinion of the matter being old shows just what type of class Pretoria produces when games are won because of cheating

  • Andre Bouwer - 2015-03-05 16:18
