Bulls hammer the champions

2012-03-24 19:01

Johannesburg - The Bulls scored eight tries in a rampant 61-8 win over Queensland Reds in rugby's Super 15 on Saturday, sending the injury-hit defending champions to consecutive losses in South Africa.

Fullback Zane Kirchner crossed in the first half and the Bulls added another seven tries in the second in a dominant performance at Loftus Versfeld. Springboks flyhalf Morne Steyn had 19 points in a faultless goalkicking display.

Queensland grabbed a consolation try through winger Dom Shipperley but the 2011 winners from Australia were completely overpowered in Pretoria to slip to 3-2. Queensland hasn't won at Loftus since 2001.

The bonus-point win moves the Bulls provisionally to the top of the South Africa conference.Pretoria - The Vodacom Bulls scored seven second-half tries as they hammered the Reds 61-8 at Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria on Saturday.

Congratulations with an empathic win! Eish it is so rewarding to be a Bulls supporter! What a TEAM effort! Potgieter, Ralepelle and Basson deserve special mention. They were brilliant! Blou Bul Groete!!

      Rene - 2012-03-24 19:22

@Priester, these youngster are doing a great job! Very proud of them. Glad Pierre is getting better and better each game. The try of the night was Jacques Potgieter's try, great moment.

      George - 2012-03-25 10:55

  • Bulldozer - 2012-03-24 19:04

    Thanks for coming.

  • tvanrayner1 - 2012-03-24 19:19

Eish such shallowness. BlouBul groete

      Japjapjap - 2012-03-25 08:01

@ouens- isak is ok. ons kort karakters soos hy. so, los hom, ek laaik sy nonsens praat... Bytendien hy weet wie & watter span is BAAS- BULLE!!!

  • Priester - 2012-03-24 19:28

René I do agree with your comments on Spies. Personally I think he is under immense pressure but yes you’re right he is getting better. Shall we say he is maturing? Blou Bul Groete!

      Stormkaap - 2012-03-24 21:14

What do u mean he is getting better! He was inspecting rucks, carried poorly, ran into his own players and frankly is purely in the side on reputation... of 2007! Olivier has a good game and Stander was great, as was Kruger.. But frankly the Reds were woeful, appeared lethargic and didnt seem interested in playing! Just as someone said the Stormers played and understrength Blues side, the Reds were definitely understrength, and at the rate they're going it doesnt appear as if they will defend their title successfully

      Priester - 2012-03-24 21:23

Ja stormkaap so se JY, now tel us about your team!!!

      Lion - 2012-03-25 02:01

      Pierre will be Bok Captain.

      Lion - 2012-03-25 07:04

Stormkaap... Go Bulle... en PIERRE!!!

      Stormkaap - 2012-03-25 09:24

Spies was pathetic in the first half and slightly bettter in the 2nd. As for Springbok captain,,,hahahahaha... that is when I will stop supporting SA rugby I listened Fattie Wiese.. really making a case for Spies, presently in SA he would be behind Whitely, Daniel and Koster on form.

  • Keith - 2012-03-24 19:34

Blou Bulle speel goeie rugby en was uitstekend vandag.Sien julle in Kaapstad volgende week.

Baie geluk. Go Bulls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      Rene - 2012-03-24 19:48

@Pieter, amen to that!!! Bulls all the way!!

      Japjapjap - 2012-03-24 19:56

@Piet- ..as ek mag help,..

      Rene - 2012-03-24 20:07

  • david.roets - 2012-03-24 20:17

Well done Slippery Shippery! You did your team prou!. Well done the Mighty Buls!

  • Jco - 2012-03-24 20:58

Great game, Bulls! Very good win! This win was maybe telling BRYCE LAWRENCE what can happen to OZ or their teams when a referee is not in the way working against the SA teams or the Boks! From NZ!

  • Danie - 2012-03-24 21:02

Great game Bulle.

Nothing new

      Danie - 2012-03-24 21:13

As jy so sê saffa. Jy span het mooi gespeel geluk man.

      pieter.bosch - 2012-03-24 21:32

Bulgroete

      Franklyn - 2012-03-25 08:23

Yip...I agree @Danie,but the Stormers are better than that, just seem to feel that they took their foot off the gas when 2 tries ahead and the Lions showed 100 % commitment, also the knee-jerk substitutions concerns..(I wonder if Coetzee is plugged into Skinstads commentary ?), But GREAT game by the Bulls....they really are untouchable when on form at Loftus, but we see at Newlands-will be a good game.

  • gilla23 - 2012-03-24 21:39

Loop k.a.k!! Stoooooorrrrrrmmmmmeeeeerrrrssssssss!!

      gilla23 - 2012-03-24 21:55

dis waarom ek se raven, dis n stormers ding!!

      Japjapjap - 2012-03-25 08:06

@girla- sheeees.... taal meisie, taal????????????????? veral as jy op 'n BLOUBUL forum! danki

  • Pomene - 2012-03-24 21:46

Baie geluk Bulls julle was great en impressive. Die Reds daarinteen was pateties - nie dat dit enige iets van julle game wegvat nie - As julle so speel en ons speel soos vanaand teen die Lions le daar swarigheid voor vi my geliefde Stormers - Allister word wakker en manage jou bench beter - hoe kan jy Habana/Bekker en Liebenberg so vroeg afhaal - selfmoord !!!!!

      Saffa - 2012-03-24 21:58

      @Pomene Who is Bekker/Habana?

  • Nicholas - 2012-03-24 22:02

Was a great arvie at Loftus ... still got my BB's shirt on ...

  • rozario.coetzee - 2012-03-24 22:46

Ai die Bulle is maar net ysters.

  • marinus.botha - 2012-03-25 01:31

Bulle Bulle.

  • Ockie - 2012-03-25 06:55

It was good to see a Oz team getting hammered like this. Well done Bulls.

      Ockie - 2012-03-25 07:04

      AN Oz team.

  • StoneCold0710 - 2012-03-25 07:19

I'm Sharks supporter and at the end of the day, i don't care if the Reds were a B,C or D team for that matter. The Bulls were brilliant in all aspects of the game and they deserved to win with that huge margin! Congrats to all Bulls supporters, your team was incredible last night!

  • Chumscrubber1 - 2012-03-25 08:14

A Sharks supporter myself, this game made my day! Well done Bulls, a pleasant surprise this "under strength" team has proved to be. Proves some guys correctly went on pension, and the obsession with "experience" in our rugby is a bit over the top.

  • Chumscrubber1 - 2012-03-25 08:18

Must admit, at a point it seems the Reds just gave up - not a great sign of character. They seem to have a habit of throwing the towel in against the Bulls - I seem to remember 92 - 3 or something in the past, can't understand how a team can allow that to happen ....

  • Vickela Mumby - 2012-03-25 08:28

Go blue bulls, now that we've hamnered the champions, lets go on and win the big one!

  • bashin.monyela - 2012-03-25 13:10

Blue bulls all day everyday. F*ck what you think.
