Brussow set for Loftus blinder?

Cape Town - Discarded Springbok flank Heinrich Brussow will “close some mouths” when he turns out for the Cheetahs against the Bulls in Saturday’s Super Rugby derby at Loftus.

So says Springbok loose forward legend Rob Louw, who also tweeted that “I believe he has been really badly treated”.

Open-side specialist Brussow gets his first opportunity - and against the side now-Bok coach Heyneke Meyer used to call the shots at - to reconfirm his international pedigree after being controversially overlooked for the recent three-Test series against England.

But Louw, who used to be the whippet in a Currie Cup-hogging Western Province loose trio of the early 1980s that also included bigger men like Theuns Stofberg and Nick Mallett, clearly believes the Cheetahs open-sider will be out to make a major point in Pretoria.

In an earlier tweet, he said: “This fixation on size and power I fought my whole career. HM (Meyer) and Rassie (Erasmus) will change after playing All Blacks and Australia. We need turnover ball.”

The Boks will tackle these teams plus new boys Argentina in the Castle Rugby Championship from mid-August.
