Cape Town - The Cheetahs on Monday confirmed that flank Heinrich Brussow would be sidelined for an extended period after breaking his arm in their 18-17 Super Rugby loss to the Reds in Bloemfontein at the weekend.

The Springbok left the field in the 14th minute of the match at Free State Stadium and underwent surgery on Sunday.

The Cheetahs released an injury report on Monday saying Brussow would be out for approximately three months.

Fullback Willie le Roux is struggling with an ankle injury and will be sidelined for the next five weeks.

It was also confirmed that fullback Coenie van Wyk injured his right ankle in the game against the Reds and is set to be sidelined for approximately four weeks.

Other players on the injury list include wing Raymond Rhule (hamstring, two to three weeks), loose forwards Jean Cook (abdominal muscle, two to three weeks) and Oupa Mohoje (groin, three to four weeks), and lock Lood de Jager (elbow, four weeks).

The Cheetahs next tackle the Lions in Johannesburg this Saturday (17:05 kick-off).
