Baby Boks sign with WP

2012-07-13 19:16

Cape Town - With the Under-19 and Under-21 provincial competitions kicking-off this weekend, Western Province have announced a raft of new signings at Under-21 level.

And at the heart of these signings is a core group of players that helped the South African Under-20 team to glory at last month's 2012 IRB Junior World Championship.

Junior World champions, prop Ollie Kebble and backs Dillyn Leyds, Kobus van Wyk, Pat Howard and Tshotsho Mbovane, have all committed their futures to Western Province Rugby.

Kebble (Prop) and Leyds (Flyhalf) will travel to Johannesburg with the DHL WP U21 team this weekend, for their season-opener against the Lions Under-21s on Saturday.

Western Province Rugby (Pty) Ltd MD Rob Wagner commented: "What people tend to forget is that established Super Rugby players like Steven Kitshoff, Frans Malherbe, Eben Etzebeth and Siya Kolisi are all still Under-21 this season.

"That's why it was so important to also sign the next generation in the shape of Ollie, Dillyn, Kobus, Pat and Tshotsho.

"We have faith that these players have the ability to join their counterparts at senior level in the not to distant future and we look forward to seeing them grow in the years to come."

We invest to the future Awesome stuff!!

  • jean.tredoux.5 - 2012-07-13 20:13

Obviously happy WP signed on the baby boks, we have excellent coaches and one must look at it as a positive move for this country's rugby and get these guys to a much higher grade of rugby at an early stage.

      tom.tardis - 2012-07-13 21:38

Yeah excellent coaches to teach them how to not score tries

      jean.tredoux.5 - 2012-07-14 06:09

So true tom, tell me how's the try scoring been working out for your team?! Your team on top of the log??? Sour grapes!!

      tom.tardis - 2012-07-14 09:07

no but the chiefs are, so whats your point?

      shooshyu.tu - 2012-07-14 18:51

@Tom.TardiveDyskinesia, you want to correct your premature comment above as it is now irrelevant, again jumping to conclusions.

      tom.tardis - 2012-07-15 09:39

stormers will not win super 15 2012. that is a promise and a guarantee, nick mallet told me u know

  • john.edwards.733450 - 2012-07-13 20:27

some good players they signed .. pity we won't be seeing them play any rugby while AC is around. Please someone get rid of that bozo and get someone to coach the team that can actually use the talent to play some Rugby that does us proud .

      bootman.bokke - 2012-07-13 20:48

Bozo!!!??? Thats rich coming from a supporter of a team coached by Frans Ludeke. Now theres a clown if I ever saw one. Since AC took over from Rassie WP/Stormers have steadily improved. Sure we havent been playing the champaign rugby that has gotten the Bulls hanging on by a thread for a play-off spot, but hell, we are about to end top of the overall log and poised for a home semi and final. So............that bozo must be doing something right.

      john.edwards.733450 - 2012-07-13 21:04

No the bozo is not doing anything right he is banking everything on the defensive system that Nienaber and Rassie developed and that is ALL he is doing .. and then riding his luck on some pretty favorable ref calls going for the zzztormerzzz . Ludeke has WON the competition twice ,in style, and has therefore accomplished something as a coach but clearly this is not a concept that's well understood in 'certain circles'. He's NOT taken the zzztormerzzz forward he's taking the team backward from where they were in 2010.

      tom.tardis - 2012-07-13 21:31

zzztormerzzzzz - I like that Ludeke, the biggest clown of all. Yeah, he can't hear you over his two Super trophies. Show some respect, your klonkie coach has won precisely nothing worth any mention. Damn, you are idiots. Isak mongo VIsser has rubbed off on all of you. Your bozo might be able to win the much coveted "Connie Cup" but he has been found wanting in the "Real Cup" department. If a Connie Cup is enough for you and for your bozo, enjoy it while other teams enjoy the Real Deal Cups named after Mr Currie and Mr Super

      john.edwards.733450 - 2012-07-13 21:37

tom you "win" the connie cup like you "win" 2nd or 3rd place ;-)

      lean.sadie - 2012-07-13 21:42

Yawn, that all you got? Poor okes, running out of stuff to say. You are just like Cape.Maori. Copy/paste say the same things over and over. Carry on.

      TheReal.EuanB - 2012-07-14 11:25

At the end of the day, only the winners are remembered. Not how u played or who deserved it. Sharks deserved it when they played the better rugby and the referee failed 2 blow for full time and inexperienced frans steyn at the time did not clear the ball. Bryan habana didnt need a 2nd chance. Yes we dont play the most attractive rugby, but we play winningg rugby. And if i recall ur blue bull minded springbok coach who coaches the spring bulle said, he wont mind winning, even if its ugly. And thats what we do week in and week out. Coz even the pretty playing lions who i rooted for last week is sitting pretty at the root of the table

      tom.tardis - 2012-07-14 11:58

Another total idiot foot in mouth numb nut. the springbok team is majority sharks. wtf is wrong with u idiots? so spring bulle really should read spring sharks. u f*ing idiot, is everyone in the western cape so one eyed? so imbecilic? is there something in the water from the mountain? seriously chump, think before you spew forth your drivel

      tom.tardis - 2012-07-14 12:01

right, just looked at your profile. i shouldnt have bothered replying to u. the real euan b? thank god there is only one of you bud. we dont need more of that. and euan is spelled EWAN. tell ur mother she got it wrong it wrong on two counts.

      john.edwards.733450 - 2012-07-14 16:33

TheReal, impressive mental acrobatics .Are you familiar with the term Cognitive Dissonance ? What you said was all t an attempt to justifying why it's ok for your team to play the crap Rugby they are playing . And yes , people remembered how the teams played and won the matches .. you just recalled for us how the bulls won their first ?

      shooshyu.tu - 2012-07-14 18:55

Is this a competition to see who can post the most comments before the thread is erased, irrespective how immature they are?

Province can keep them, none of them impressed in any of the games. Kebble was demolished in every scrum, Howard looked very average compared to Serfontein and Small-Smith. Van Wyk only played the one game so can't comment on him. How Mbovane managed to start ahead of Rhule only the selectors will know. Leyds on the other hand although not bad looked out of lace in a backline alongside players like Jordaan, Pollard, Serfontein, Rhule and Small-Smith. Province should take note about the players the Bulls and Sharks sign. These two unions only sign players who they think have a realistic chance of making it into the Springboks in future. With Pollard, Serfontein, Small-Smith, Adendorff, Jordaan and Steph-Du Toit all playing for the Bulls and Sharks it just emphasises the point I'm making. WP signed all the wrong players, again!

      Mandy Casey - 2012-07-14 08:54

Play the ball. Congrats to the five, big step in their careers, let's hope they continue to grow. They will definitely be able to acquire the skills at their new home.

      tom.tardis - 2012-07-14 09:09

yes at the stormers they will learn to tackle

      Stormkaap - 2012-07-14 11:14

Dustin, Serfontein and Small- Smith are centres and Jordaan a flyhalf, so what are you comparing. His brother who played U20 is a centre cum wing and has plyed Super rugby for the Sharks. As for the wrong players, didnt you sign Sadie and Engelbrecht and the biggest flop, Flop Spies

      tom.tardis - 2012-07-14 12:03

jj engelbrecht - excellent player sadie - what a knob stormkaap, part time savante, part time imbecile wanna gym together bud?

      Stormkaap - 2012-07-14 12:30

Tom I dont gym with "She men". Stop boasting about the gym. you remind me of the boys @ school who played d team rugby u15 and were the loudest supporters of the Ateam.. You're an absolute Clit

      tom.tardis - 2012-07-14 12:58

      you are what you eat

  • dustin.dewet - 2012-07-14 09:14

      tom.tardis - 2012-07-14 10:27

boet dont waste your time, the oke was born feet first

      Stormkaap - 2012-07-14 12:33

Dustin, that argument has been going on for more than 40 years now. Lets see If Stellenbosch will play VC if they must play in Boland RU or for that matter if Paul Roos, Paarl Gim etc will be will be a force if they cant play for WP

      stephen.russo.338 - 2012-07-14 21:25

The last time I recall Boland region fell under Western Province region so the point being???? So when players from the Pumas or Leopards join the Bulls??? What is that. Lets face it if that were the case then these schools would quickly fall into insignificance as the parents move their kids to schools within the WP circle to get decent rugby games. Make a decent case before you open your mouth.

  • Michael - 2012-07-14 11:24

This is probably greedy but I really wish we could have got that Serfontein kid, what a phenomenon!

      tom.tardis - 2012-07-14 13:00

early doors bud early doors. everyone is hyping pollard, smallsmith, serfontein, lets give them some time to develop, not every chaan is gonna make it. i hope they do though

  • TheReal.EuanB - 2012-07-14 11:40

I dont care what any bull supporter has 2 say on this matter, coz they all haters. Sharks cheetahs and lions are welcome to give imput of good interlectual value. Bulls, u have lied, cheated and stole ur way to those super rugby titles, i will give u the credit 4 the season where u thrashed the chiefs in the final, but ur trophy era is over, and WP is back and we will take it from here thank you

      tom.tardis - 2012-07-14 12:09

imput - input interlectual - intellectual stole - stolen bud before you start telling people only certain exclusive members of society can add "interlectual value", put down the crack pipe, get a dictionary and don't look like such a tool. man you are pathetic.

      TheReal.EuanB - 2012-07-17 09:55

      1. Blame BBM and 2. I'm glad the only thing u cn nail me on is my spelling. Coz u know my point stands strong. And crackpipe? Wow thats rich. Dont really care what else u hav 2 say mr english teacher coz with my crappy spelling i hav a university degree
