Johannesburg - The Lions have sent an SOS to their gamebreaking scrumhalf Jano Vermaak to join them in Australia ahead of Saturday’s Vodacom Super 14 match against the Waratahs.

Vermaak, who returned to action in the Vodacom Cup game for the Lions against the Falcons last weekend and came through unscathed, will be joined by winger Wigan Pekeur on the flight as a replacement for Dusty Noble.
Noble limped off the field early in the loss against the Brumbies, and has torn his cruciate ligaments in his knee, leaving him out of action for the rest of the year.
Lions coach Dick Muir consulted the Vodacom Cup coach Timmy Goodwin about Vermaak, and was obviously happy with what he heard.
Vermaak is set to arrive in Sydney on Tuesday and could be a surprise starter for Saturday’s match.
On the positive side, Lions flyhalf Carlos Spencer, who missed last weekend’s game with a pectoral muscle injury, has been declared fit and will be back at flyhalf this weekend.
