Kankowski out of Super 14

Johannesburg - Sharks' Springbok No 8 Ryan Kankowski, one of the team's stand-out players in a difficult season for the coastal franchise, will miss the remainder of the Super 14 with a broken thumb.

There was however also good news, and it seems that captain John Smit (elbow) and lock Alistair Hargreaves (thigh) will be available to face the Lions at Coca-Cola Park the Saturday after the Sharks' bye this coming weekend.

Kankowski left the field just before half time, and it has been confirmed that he would miss the remainder of the competition.

Lock Johann Muller is expected to return from his hand injury for the Lions match. Injured flanker Keegan Daniel is also expected to at least cover on the bench in this match.
