Cape Town - Sharks prop Jannie du Plessis was on Thursday found not guilty of dangerous play during a Super 14 match against the Reds in Durban on Saturday 3 April 2010.
Du Plessis was cited for allegedly striking Reds hooker Sean Hardman with the head. He was also cited for for entering a ruck in a dangerous manner.
SANZAR Judicial Officer Jannie Lubbe considered the evidence and concluded that when Du Plessis made contact with his opponent no ruck was formed, but a dynamic tackle situation occurred.
The action performed by Du Plessis according to the Judicial Officer was to legally clean out the Reds hooker Sean Hardman, using both his arms as he was entitled to do.
As a result Lubbe dismissed the citing complaint.
