Garrin Lambley

Cape Town - The Bulls have beaten the Hurricanes in their Super 14 match in Wellington, despite playing the majority of the second half with 14 men.

The Bulls won 19-14 after leading 9-7 at half-time.

The Bulls scored a try through centre JP Nel while flyhalf Morne Steyn kicked four penalties and a conversion.

The Hurricanes replied with tries by fullback Tamati Ellison and lock Jason Eaton. Flyhalf Piri Weepu kicked two conversions.

The Bulls had flank Deon Stegmann red carded for a spear tackle on Hurricanes centre Conrad Smith. Stegmann had earlier received a yellow card for a professional foul inside the Bulls' 22m area.

The Bulls picked up four points for their efforts to extend their lead atop the standings. The Hurricanes picked up a bonus point for losing by less than seven points.

In next weekend's action, the Bulls face the Highlanders in Palmerston North while the Hurricanes travel to Johannesburg to play the Lions.
