Cape Town - Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer says it's up to Patrick Lambie to stake a claim for the Bok No 10 jersey going forward to the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
Lambie played 63 minutes at flyhalf against Wales in Cardiff last week after Morné Steyn went off with a back injury and the Sharks pivot will get 80 minutes against Scotland in Edinburgh on Sunday.
Steyn is expected to be back for the Boks' final tour game against France next Saturday, so it will be important for Lambie to prove his worth at Murrayfield.
Meyer, in an interview with the Cape Times, said Lambie knows this (Scotland) is a big game for him. Meyer said while Lambie is "not 100%" there" he is working hard to take more control.
The coach also said Lambie's tactical kicking has improved markedly in the last while and he is also taking the ball a lot flatter.
He said Lambie is fully aware how important Sunday's game is for his chances of wearing the No 10 jersey in future.
Sunday's Test kicks off at 17:00 (SA time).
