Care: Expect backlash, Boks

Cape Town - England scrumhalf Danny Care has promised the Springboks they will walk into an England backlash at Twickenham on Saturday.

England lost 20-14 at home to Australia over the weekend and the scrumhalf has vowed they will respond with character.

The Boks won their three-Test series 2-0 in South African in June, with the last Test ending in a 14-all draw in Port Elizabeth. But Care said they learnt a lot from that tour and believe the time is right to exact revenge over what he labelled a "predictable" Springbok team.

“South Africa have some massive forwards and big backs who are going to run hard and defend well so we have to match up with them physically,” he 25-year-old told the express.co.uk website.

“But the three Tests in the summer give us the confidence that we can go out and beat them. While we couldn’t predict how Australia would play, with South Africa you know a bit more what they are going to do.”

England last beat the Springboks in 2006, with the South Africans winning nine matches on the trot before the draw in PE this year.

The clash on Saturday kicks off at 16:30 (SA time).

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
