Cape Town - Ireland-based prop Heinke van der Merwe has been shortlisted as a possible replacement in the Springbok squad for the year-end tour, reports the Rugby365 website.
The 27-year-old former Lion, who currently plays for Leinster, has been shortlisted after Northampton Saints' Zimbabwean Brian Mujati could not be included due to passport and citizenship issues.
Van der Merwe played one Test for the Boks in 2007 against Wales. Should prop Gurthrö Steenkamp get injurred, Van der Merwe will be called-up.
The Boks play Ireland in Dublin on Saturday, followed by Tests against Scotland a week later in Edinburgh before concluding their tour against England in London on November 24.
