SA Rugby, Absa set for court battle

Cape Town - SA Rugby looks set to take prominent South African bank ABSA to court over money still owed from their sponsorship deal.

ABSA withdrew its sponsorship with the Springboks last year for political reasons.

However, according to Rapport, production was already in place and jerseys with their logo on the front had already been made.

SA Rugby looks set to further the matter with legal proceedings after a spokesperson confirmed that its legal team is busy dealing with the matter.

“The matter is in the hands of our lawyers, and negotiations with a new sponsor (Blue Label Telecoms) are at an advanced stage," he last week.
