Cape Town - Rassie Erasmus’ management team has brushed off rumours linking him with a return to South Africa to take over as Springbok coach.
Recent media reports indicated that Allister Coetzee may be sacked as Springbok coach, with reports late last week linking Erasmus as a possible successor.
Erasmus is currently the director of rugby at Irish club Munster, but according to a report in Afrikaans newspaper Rapport on Sunday, Munster said they will not block a possible move back to South Africa for Erasmus.
But the Erasmus camp dismissed the reports.
"We are not aware of it," Frikkie Erasmus, the former Springbok flanker's lawyer, told Rugby365.
The lawyer insisted that Erasmus won't head to South Africa to hold talks while he is doing well in Ireland.
"He is very happy in Ireland and he doesn't have the interference there that happens here in South Africa. He has a long stint to go on what is a very good contract."
On Sunday, City Press newspaper quoted SA Rugby president Mark Alexander as saying that the organisation was still pondering over the Springbok head coaching position.
“We’re not sure which way we’re going, whether we’re keeping Allister or not,” said Alexander.
“We still have presentations to go through but no formal decision has been made on whether we’re going forward with him or not.
“At the end of January we’ll make an announcement on whether we’re keeping him.”
