Munster assistant turns down chance to join Boks

Cape Town - Munster assistant coach Felix Jones has reportedly turned down an offer to join his former boss Rassie Erasmus as part of the Springboks' backroom staff.

According to the Irish Independent, the highly-rated skills coach had been asked by Erasmus, the new South African Director of Rugby, to join the Boks ahead of their 2018 international season.

Erasmus is already believed to have secured the services of Munster fitness and conditioning coach Aled Walters

According to the report, Jones has recently signed a two-year contract extension with Munster and he is viewed as a crucial part of Irish Rugby's plans moving forward.

Since 2016 when Allister Coetzee took the reins as Springbok coach, the national side has used Mzwandile Stick and then Franco Smith as their backline and skills coaches.

Coetzee's future, meanwhile, remains uncertain and SA Rugby have not made any further announcements on the matter.

In 25 Tests since taking over as coach, Coetzee has won just 11.
