Kolisi, who led his team to a third Rugby World Cup title in Japan earlier in the month, has been given the privilege of flicking the famous Moët & Chandon Golden Tree’s switch to officially open the festive season in Cape Town.

According to the TimesLIVE website, the tree is situated at the V&A Waterfront's Silo District and the ceremony will take place on Friday, November 29 between 18:30 and 21:30.

Kolisi will be accompanied by several of his Springbok team-mates as well as TV personalities Boity Thulo and Katleho Sinivasan.

The Golden Tree, some four storeys (12 metres) in height, is "built" with more than 2 000 recycled champagne bottles and is wrapped in a gold ribbon with a similar number of discs.

Some 230m of LED lights and several local musical acts are set to dazzle and entertain visitors at the lighting.

Kolisi has been in high demand since the Springboks clinched their third Webb Ellis Cup in Yokohama, beating England 32-12 in the final.

The 28-year-old star loose forward was front and centre of the Springboks' 5-day Champions Tour of the country and has attended awards evenings in Paris and Johannesburg.
