Fans to wait before passing Coetzee judgement

Cape Town - Supporters are willing to wait before passing judgement on the appointment of Allister Coetzee as Springbok coach.

Asked in a poll on the News24 website on Tuesday following the announcement of Coetzee as the 13th Springbok coach since readmission, the question posed: Is Allister Coetzee the best candidate to coach the Springboks? received some 26 507 votes.

The vast majority (49% - 12 859 votes) went for the option "Time will tell", while, tellingly, the next most popular was "No" (28% - 7 394).

Only 23% (6 254) were confident enough to vote "Yes".

Coetzee's first assignment as Bok coach will be a three-Test series against Ireland in June, starting with a Test in Cape Town (June 11), before matches in Johannesburg (June 18) and Port Elizabeth (June 25).
