Coetzee wants Proudfoot at Boks

Cape Town - New Springbok coach Allister Coetzee is reportedly eager to have Matt Proudfoot as part of his management team.

According to Netwerk24, Coetzee has sent a request to the South African Rugby Union (SARU) to include Proudfoot as part of the Bok management team.

Proudfoot though currently coaches at the Kobe Steel Kobelco Steelers in Japan and he may find it tough to get out of his contract there.

The Steelers have already granted Coetzee a release after he was head coach of the team this past Japanese season.

Coetzee and Proudfoot worked together during his tenure at the Stormers, where Proudfoot was forwards coach.

When he was announced as Bok coach earlier this month, Coetzee left the door open for possible additions to his management team.

The possible addition of Proudfoot could however cause some tension in the Bok camp due to the fact that Johann van Graan has already appointed as forwards coach.

Van Graan was also the forwards coach during the tenure of former coach, Heyneke Meyer.
