Cape Town - The Springboks may have endured a woeful year, but they can take heart from the fact that their record against Wales ahead of Saturday's clash in Cardiff is seriously impressive.

Of course, records have counted for nothing for the Boks this year with losses at home Ireland, away to Argentina and then away to Italy last weekend giving coach Allister Coetzee a long list of unwanted 'firsts'.

But, when one looks back over the years, the Springboks boast an extremely good record against the Welsh.

In 31 Test matches since 1906, the Boks have beaten Wales 28 times and lost just twice

There has been one draw.

The two losses came in 1999 under Nick Mallett and then in 2014 under Heyneke Meyer, but the Boks still have a 90.3% win percentage

The last time the sides met was at the 2015 World Cup quarter-final, and though Wales come close that day, the Boks eventually got over the line to win 23-19 thanks to that famous Fourie du Preez try.
