ANC congratulates new Bok coach Coetzee

Cape Town - The ANC in the Western Cape has congratulated Allister Coetzee on his appointment as the new coach of the Springboks.

In a press release issued on Tuesday, the organisation thanked Coetzee for his prior service to rugby in the province at the helm of both Western Province and the Stormers.

The release went on to say:

We thank Allister for his bold decisions, ensuring that both the Western Province and the Stormers selected a provincial team that truly reflects the demographics of the Province. More importantly for showing the Province and the country that competence has no colour. All South Africans share the same aspirations to represent their nation in national sports and all you ever need to do is to give all hard working players a chance.

There is no doubt that Allister is taking over the reigns of the Springboks when our team is badly weakened. There is a nagging feeling that out dominance is on the decline. It's a critical time that requires a coach with a proven record of transforming an ordinary team into warriors.

There is no doubt in our minds that Allister is that man. He is the coach we need for this epoch in our shifting realities. He is the man to return us to glory.

He has our support. He has our trust. He has our confidence.

We wish him well in his new responsibilities.

No! I think the smart thing to do is start again with a younger skipper ...

I'd keep Siya captain for now, but look to have someone else for 2027.
