Cape Town - The Cheetahs' Springbok hooker Adriaan Strauss has declared himself ready to play for the Boks in their upcoming European tour.
There was uncertainty regarding the hooker's fitness after he was withdrawn from the Cheetahs' Currie Cup promotion-relegation match against the EP Kings last week.
Strauss confirmed to the Volksblad website that he is fit after struggling with a minor knee injury. "The knee was just a little bit sore at the captain's practice in Port Elizabeth. I think it may have been a spasm."
The Boks will take on Ireland, Scotland and England on three consecutive weekends without several players out injured.
Hookers Bismarck du Plessis and Tiaan Liebenberg, prop Coenie Oosthuizen, lock Andries Bekker, loose forwards Heinrich Brüssow, Juan Smith, Schalk Burger, Pierre Spies, Jacques Potgieter, flyhalf Johan Goosen, centre Frans Steyn and wing Bryan Habana are all unavailable for the tour but Strauss believes they still have enough firepower.
"It will definitely be a goal to win all three Tests, but we'll take it Test for Test," he said.
The Springboks play their first Test against the Irish in Dublin on November 10.
